Academics

Founded in 1946 as a college of foreign languages, Nanzan University has grown into one of the most prestigious universities in the Tokai region, with 8 faculties and 18 departments, 6 graduate schools and 14 programs, as well as the Center for Japanese Studies. The addition through the years of new faculties, departments and research centers has not changed the basic purpose and thrust of Nanzan education—to provide an education rooted in Christian values across all fields of knowledge. At a medium-sized university such as Nanzan, a community feeling prevails. Perhaps one of the great advantages of Nanzan for any student is the opportunity to meet faculty on a personal basis.
