I have been teaching English in Japan for over 20 years and I love helping students to become the best that they can be. Teacher training affords me the opportunity to pass on some of the knowledge I have garnered throughout my teaching career to the next generation of teachers.

One of the courses I teach at Nanzan is 'Issues in Language Studies' where we will examine the craft of teaching English. We will explore such questions as:

• What are the traits of an expert teacher?
• How can learner autonomy be fostered?
• How effective is contemporary pedagogy?
• Is there a 'best' way to teach English?

This is a dynamic course where you will be asked to share your views on many topics related to teaching and learning English. You will also get the chance to plan and teach lessons to other students.
