An air of normality has returned to the Nanzan University campus now that Covid-19 related restrictions on daily activities and entry to Japan have finally been lifted. Energized by the life that has been injected into the campus, we administrators feel that we would like to challenge ourselves to do something new and we would love to see members of our alumni drop in to see us at the Center for International Affairs.
This summer we will try a new initiative at Nanzan University. It is called the Nanzan Anime Study Tour and is designed for international students. The aim is to have students who are interested in Japanese anime to learn about Japanese culture from a different angle. We would like to try more such new initiatives, so please let us know if you have any ideas.

新型コロナウイルスによる行動制限や入国制限がなくなり、南山大学のキャンパスにもようやく日常の風景が戻ってきました。にぎわいを取り戻したキャンパスを見ていると、私たち事務職員も元気が出ますし、新しいことに挑戦するエネルギーが湧いてきます。ぜひ留学生同窓会同窓生のみなさんも南山大学の国際センターに立ち寄ってください。歓迎いたします。
さて、南山大学は、この夏に新しい取り組みを始めます。外国人大学生を対象としたプログラムである「Nanzan Anime Study Tour」です。このプログラムは、日本のアニメに関心のある学生に対し、アニメを通して日本の文化や新たな魅力を学んでもらうことを狙いとしています。これからも新しい挑戦をしていきますので、同窓生の皆さんも何かアイデアがあれば気軽に連絡してください。

In June, the Summer Program started in the Center for Japanese Studies. A total of 116 international students are enthusiastically studying Japanese every day for up to eight weeks in in-person lectures, which have recommenced after a gap of four years. Approximately 40 of these students are living together and interacting with Japanese students in the Janssen International Residence, which opened in April 2022. An educational program known as the Skill Development Program for Diversity and Inclusion is being carried out in the Janssen International Residence. In this program students assume the roles of Resident Leaders (RL) and Living Coordinators (LC), with support for everyday life and various events being organized by the students themselves. Information about the Janssen International Residence or the Summer Program is provided through the Center for International Affairs Twitter and Instagram accounts.

南山大学の外国人留学生別科では6月からサマープログラムが始まりました。4年ぶりの対面開講となった今年は116名もの留学生が、最大8週間にわたり日々熱心に日本語を学びます。このうち約40名は2022年4月に開寮したヤンセン国際寮に入居し、日本人学生と交流しながら生活を送っています。ヤンセン国際寮では入居者全員を対象にした「ダイバーシティ＆インクルージョン実践力養成プログラム」と呼ばれる教育プログラムが実施されています。その一環として、レジデントリーダー（RL）とリビングコーディネーター（LC）を担う学生が中心となり、日常生活のサポートやイベントなどが学生主体で運営されています。ヤンセン国際寮やサマープログラムの様子は国際センターのTwitterやInstagramで随時発信していきますので、ぜひそちらもご覧ください。

From the 2022 academic year, Nanzan University commenced a Career Support Program for international students who wish to find employment in Japan. In addition to supported long-term internships or lectures on finding your first job, during the last academic year we organized lectures by former international students. Three former students from Taiwan, Thailand and the Philippines talked to our current international students about finding jobs in Japan, why they chose their current job and the advantages for international students and what they find most fulfilling about their jobs. It goes without saying that the current students were invigorated listening to their seniors who have completed undergraduate or postgraduate studies and are now shining in their respective workplaces and the same goes for us administrators who attended. Please contact us if you are a graduate and are prepared to talk to our current international students about your experience looking for work in Japan.

南山大学では2022年度から日本就職を希望する留学生を対象にキャリア支援プログラムを始めました。伴走型の長期インターンシップや就活レクチャーなどのほか、昨年度は、元留学生の先輩方によるレクチャーも企画し、台湾やタイ、フィリピン出身の3名の卒業生・修了生に在学中の留学生に日本での就職活動のほか、現在の仕事を選んだ理由、留学生であることの強み、仕事でのやりがいなどについてお話しいただきました。学部卒業後（または大学院修了後）、様々な分野で、バリバリと働かれているみなさんのお姿に、在学中の留学生が刺激を受けたのはもちろん、私たち職員も元気をいただきました。もしこのメッセージを読んでいただいている卒業生で、在学中の留学生に、ご自身の日本での就活体験談をお話ししてくださる方がいらっしゃいましたら、ぜひご連絡ください！
