Student Camp – Students' Report

The 2016 ACUCA Student Camp was held from August 22nd to 26th at Parahyangan Catholic University located in Bandung, Indonesia. The Camp is an international gathering hosted by the Association of Christian Universities and Colleges in Asia (ACUCA), which Nanzan University belongs to. Its aim is to provide an opportunity for students from Asia to discuss aspects of their culture and societies. Held biennially since 1994, the Faculties and Students from the total of 8 countries and regions (Thailand, Taiwan, the Philippines, South Korea, Japan, Indonesia, India and Hong Kong) who are member of the ACUCA had gathered to join the this year’s Camp. 2 students from Nanzan University participated in the lively discussion on this year’s theme, “Local Spiritualities and Everydayness: Promoting Religious Conversation in Christian Higher Education”.

Throughout the Camp, students shared their ideas, values and faith by having a discussion with students who came from different culture background. The “Cultural Night,” in which participants introduced richness of their traditions or culture, helped students to widen their horizons on the diversity of cultures in Asia as well as opportunity to deepen their mutual friendships.
