February 03, 2015

A tour group of 24 Indonesian university students forming the 12th JENESYS2.0 Japanese Language Team visited Nanzan University including study of Japanese by way of an introduction from JICE’s (Japanese International Cooperation Center) Chubu Branch Office.

After touring the campus the group participated in an Indonesian Language lesson allowing them to exchange their native language with Japanese from students in Nanzan’s Department of Asian Studies (Faculty of Foreign Studies) through exchanges including group discussion.

Students from both sides prepared in advance for the group discussion that was conducted in six subgroups.
Topics selected to reflect the perspective of students ranged from use of smartphones and social networks to desirable occupations and contents of bags. Though brief, the discussions became quite lively and the final presentations given by each group drew a lot of interest.

Later, at a social gathering, the Indonesian students performed song and dance, and friendships grew as all parties communicated enthusiastically.

Students from both sides were positively impacted by this opportunity.
