Report from student participants at the 2013 ASEACCU International Student Conference

From August 22 to 25, 2013 the Catholic University of Korea in Bucheon, Korea hosted the 2013 ASEACCU International Student Conference. Two students from Nanzan participated and have prepared a report (in English).

This year’s four day international student conference was the latest iteration of the gathering that has been hosted each year since 1993 by the ASEACCU (Association of Southeast and East Asian Catholic Colleges and Universities) in parallel with its general meeting. More than 100 students representing eight countries in Southeast and East Asia gathered with the theme “New Ardor, New Method, New Expression: The Mission of Catholic Higher Education for New Evangelization” for a full schedule including discussions and presentations as well as study tours of locations in Seoul including the Myeongdong Cathedral and Insadong.

Nanzan University’s President Calmano also attended the general meeting in his role as executive secretary of the ASEACCU.

The Korean Catholic University of Pusan was accepted as a new member of the association during the general meeting bringing ASEACCU to 69 schools in nine Asian countries.
