The Student Conference of the 2012 ASEACCU was held from August 21 to 26 at the Wenzao Ursuline College of Languages, which is located in Kaohsiung in Taiwan. We bring you the reports of the two students who participated from Nanzan University.
Reports:
Momoko Katayama 3rd year student in the Department of Christian Studies
Ribeka Namiki 4th year student in the Department of Policy Studies
The Student Conference has been held every year since 1993 at the same time as the conference of the
ASEACCU (Association of Southeast and East Asian Catholic Colleges and Universities), but at the suggestion of
the host institution, this year it was extended to six days rather than the previous three. More than 50 students
from nine countries of East and Southeast Asia took part, going on study tours to local Catholic social welfare
institutions or social enterprises and discussing how they can make a contribution to society in their regions. The
annual conference was also attended by ASEACCU executive secretary and President of Nanzan University, Prof.
Michael Calmano S.V.D., and Director of the Center for International Education, Prof. Yoshikazu Watanabe. At the
annual conference, the Saint Paul Institute, of Cambodia, was welcomed in as a new member, bringing the total
number of member institutes to 68, located in eight countries of Asia.
