Jonathan Pearce

Because the autumnal equinox fell on a Sunday this year, the following day, Monday, became a substitute public holiday. Classes occurred as scheduled that day at Nanzan University, but Jonathan Pearce used the holiday to visit the University. Jonathan caught up with Tsuda-sensei and Onishi-sensei of the CJS, as well as Koiwai-sensei, eating lunch with them in the new dining hall and reminiscing about such fond memories as when he had given a speech playing the part of Shakespeare in an assignment in the Intensive Japanese Class. When they were talking, Kondi-san, a former classmate of Jonathan's and now a graduate school student, happened to pass by, so he joined them too.

From this September, Jonathan has been employed on the JET Program, teaching English at a secondary school in Shiojiri City in Nagano Prefecture. He says that not all of his students are keen on English, but that they are doing their best. Jonathan really loves Japan, so no doubt he'll be popular with his students.
