【Lille, France】IFCU 82nd Meeting of the Board

March 3-11 2012

In his capacity as board member and vice-president President of Nanzan University, Michael Calmano, S.V.D., attended the IFCU (International Federation of Catholic Universities) Meeting of the Board, which is held every March. This year's venue was the French city of Lille, which is the fourth largest in France after Paris, Marseilles and Lyon. Lille is located in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region of northern France, near the border with Belgium, so the street signs are all written both in Flemish (also referred to as a dialect of the Dutch language) and in French. It takes just 40 minutes to drive from Lille to Brussels in Belgium, one hour to get to Paris and only one hour and 40 minutes to get to London, so it is extremely well located in terms of international access.
It is also one of France's most well known university towns, and Lille Catholic University has an excellent summer program for foreign students.
