【Salamanca, Spain】IFCU 81st Meeting of the Board

March 7-11, 2011

President of Nanzan University, Michael Calmano went to the Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca, in Salamanca, Spain to attend the IFCU Meeting of the Executive Board. Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca is one of Europe’s oldest universities, and is the alma mater of Professor Noboru Kinoshita of the Nanzan University Department of Spanish and Studies and the city of Salamanca is noted for its strong ties with Japan, including being home for the Centro Cultural Hispano Japonés. Students from the Nanzan University Department of Spanish and Studies happened to be at the Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca at the same time studying Spanish, so there seemed to be people from Nanzan University everywhere. The signing ceremony for an exchange agreement (http://www.nanzan-u.ac.jp/English/news/2011/110520_exchange.html) concluded between the two universities was also held during the visit.
With regard to the Spanish language practical studies visit - there is a related article in Japanese in the Nanzan Bulletin.
